Uploading and reviewing large videos

Video formats that play in the browser, and how timestamped comments work.

Use a format browsers can play

PostVito doesn't convert video — your client watches exactly the file you upload. Export in a format every browser plays:

ProRes, DNxHD and other editing formats won't play in a browser. Export a review copy instead.

Big files

Files up to 20 GB are fine. Uploads go in parts and resume if your connection drops — add the same file again in the same browser within 24 hours.

A tip: a review copy at 1080p with a sensible bitrate is usually a fraction of the size of your master, plays more smoothly for your client and uses less of your storage.

Timestamped comments

On the review page your client can pause the video and tick Pin it to this moment before adding a comment. The comment shows the time — for example 0:42 — and clicking it jumps the player to that moment, for your client and for you.

Every pinned comment also shows as a numbered marker on a timeline under the video. Click a marker to jump straight to that moment.

Marking the frame

Your client can pause on any frame and click Mark a spot, then click a point or drag round an area. The mark is numbered to match the comment, and you see it on your project page with Show on file.
